Quick setup
Install Gaze, start the daemon, enroll your face, and try authentication from the terminal.
Start setup
Bring facial authentication to Linux with on-device recognition, PAM integration, and tools for login, lock screens, sudo, and desktop management.
Quick install
curl -fsSL https://gaze.gundulabs.com/install.sh | shSupports Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Arch, and Manjaro
Gaze uses local liveness checks and supports infrared (IR) cameras to help protect against spoofing. If you use Gaze in a high-security environment, we recommend keeping your usual system authentication available as a fallback.
Install Gaze, start the daemon, enroll your face, and try authentication from the terminal.
Start setup
Set up face unlock for GNOME, KDE Plasma, or Hyprland's hyprlock, or use Gaze with a PAM-based login manager such as SDDM.
Configure desktop auth
Use your face for sudo and other programs that authenticate through PAM.
Read the PAM guide
Add or remove face profiles, test recognition, and change settings from the terminal or GTK app.
See the CLI
Face templates stay on your machine. The daemon performs recognition locally and communicates with the CLI, GUI, and PAM module over DBus.
How it works
Fix camera selection, daemon startup, DBus permissions, PAM lockouts, and model issues.
